Scouting for a luxurious natural beauty range? Check out SCOUT Cosmetics

Today I launch my “Natural Beauty” series, and with it a review of two products created by Australian beauty label SCOUT Cosmetics. However before I share my thoughts, I would first like to discuss why I have created a separate beauty section on MimaMochi.com.

I personally have an internal struggle balancing my love for gorgeous, quality products with my passion for natural therapies. I am after all only 6 subjects away from graduating as a fully qualified naturopath and nutritionist. This makes me incredibly knowledgeable and aware of the toxic and hormone disrupting chemicals that are hiding within some of our favourite beauty items. Despite this knowledge, I still regularly enjoy using premium products from an array of brands. It is quite difficult to find natural substitutes that perform as well as my favourites from YSL, Chanel, Giorgio Armani and MAC.

There is no doubt that the beauty industry plays an important role in any blogger’s life. Personal grooming, make-up and hair styling are essential components in completing the overall looks I share. While my beauty requirements for photo shoots and important events will always differ to everyday make-up, I think it is still very important to discover ways in which to decrease exposure to nasties. This is where this series comes in.

If I could achieve my beauty looks solely using natural products, I would. Unfortunately, discovering a variety of non-toxic products that perform to a professional standard is near impossible. To make matters even tougher, a lot of natural make-up formulations contain nuts, which trigger my psoriasis. This is the reason why the “natural beauty” section has been launched on MimaMochi.com, as I am sure I am not the only one to experience such struggles when it comes to the beauty industry.

In my journey as a blogger, I hope to celebrate the amazing natural beauty products, therapies and treatments I discover. It is an area I would love to write about frequently as I feel it is really important to use my academic background to educate others and promote overall health.

This first post in the natural beauty series will bring focus to Australian beauty brand SCOUT Cosmetics. I have been fortunate enough to extensively trial their Fluid Foundation with Rose & Grapefruit as well as their Six Oils of Rejuvenation.

From my background as a naturopath, I am very impressed with the SCOUT Cosmetics' ethos and overall dedication to creating a quality, natural beauty range. I thoroughly enjoyed the two products I tried and can definitely see myself replacing  the bottles when they run out. Below is a detailed review of my experiences.

SCOUT Cosmetics Luminous Finish Mineral Foundation with Rose & Grapefruit

I absolutely adore this foundation and see it becoming an definite staple in my daily make-up regime. The formulation is quite thick (almost like a cream) and it blends seamlessly into the skin like a moisturiser. While this foundation does not provide heavy-duty coverage, two layers work sufficiently to provide a natural medium coverage that looks like an enhanced version of my natural skin. This is all I really need for everyday make-up. The foundation blends well, lasts the entire day and is never cakey. Given it’s winter and my skin is rather dry, it tends to set on the matte side. To combat this I have been combining it with two drops of the Organic Six Oils of Rejuvenation (below) to achieve a dewy finish. I love the end result and the extra skincare benefits this addition provides. At the end of the day when I remove this product, my skin feels smooth, soft and hydrated. I have never actually tried a natural liquid foundation as effective as this before.

SCOUT Cosmetics Organic Six Oils of Rejuvenation

Facial oils have become a big beauty trend that I encourage all of you to start experimenting with in your skincare regime. The best thing about them is that they are suitable for all skin types. For oily skin they help to dissolve the gunk clogging your pores, thus reducing acne breakouts. In relation to dry skin they aid in nourishing, hydrating and repairing. I personally apply five drops of this product to my face, neck and décolletage every night after cleansing, and it has really helped with combating my dry skin issues this winter. The essential oils of ylang ylang and rose geranium provide a pleasant natural scent, and also have additional aromatherapy benefits such as enhancing relaxation. Overall the Organic Six Oils of Rejuvenation is a beneficial and welcomed addition to my beauty collection that I will continue to enjoy using.

SCOUT Cosmetics definitely achieve their aim of providing quality skincare and make-up products using no nasties and certified organic ingredients. Both of these products I tried were of a very high quality, with the packaging being beautifully and thoughtfully designed. Although the price may seem a little steep for some, there should be no cost too high when looking after your health and wellbeing. The skin is our largest organ, covering our entire body, and is capable of absorbing many of the nasty chemicals found inside common beauty products. It makes sense to look after it whenever possible by choosing natural alternatives such as SCOUT Cosmetics.

This is really cool to read how you went with the Scout foundation. I have tried lip colours from them and I did like them. Foundations can be really tricky to nail, I think, in a natural brand, though technology seems to have come a long way.

I’m not surprised to hear Scout is an Australian brand. I feel like they’re really ahead of the curve when it comes to anything wellness-related. I love the idea of a natural beauty range, especially when it’s luxe and mimics the feel of other high-end brands, sans the chemicals. I’ll have to check it out!

    Hi Adrianna,

First congratulations on becoming (very soon!) certified naturopath and nutritionist. It is a great idea that you started a new section this way I can learn more about harmful substances in our beauty products as well as discover new natural brands. I have to check if they have Scout Cosmetics in Switzerland.

OMG YES! My friend recently turned me when it comes to Natural beauty products, mostly because we went to a GOOP pop up shop together and he bought so much stuff haha. Since then, I started using a few products from London brand Soveral and its all organic and natural and I will admit that I am nicely surprised with the results! Thank you for posting this because I am truly trying to broaden my knowledge on natural skincare now!
